TM-H Release 5.20
TM-H 5.20 merges the firmware of the standard TM-H and the “double power” TM-H. Double power is now available as an option in the standard TM-H firmware.
Changes compared to TM-H 5.11
- Quad is Back: In 5.11, the 4xPWMM was removed to make room for the ‘high-frequency’ PWM option, but it seems many people were still using the 4xPWMM. With some extra adjustments, it turns out to be possible to combine both. In fact, in 5.20 you don’t just have 2x, 4x, and 32x at your disposal, but also 8x and 16x. The single version has been permanently removed.
- Double Power: If you enable this, every 2 consecutive blocks are combined into 1 block with double power. For details: see below.
- Reading settings: It has been planned for a long time, but it is now also possible to read the configuration of the TM-H. Reading parameters requires DinamoConfig 1.22 or later.
Compatibility with TM44
If you combine the TM-H with the TM44 in one system, only the following combinations will work:
- TM-H 5.20 and TM44 1.20
- TM-H 5.11 and TM44 1.11
- TM-H 5.00 and TM44 1.00
Other combinations may cause unpredictable effects.
DinamoConfig compatibility
To make the most of all features, you should use at least DinamoConfig 1.22
Double Power
This involves combining 2 consecutive blocks into 1 block with double power. The odd-numbered blocks can then no longer be controlled from the software. Double power is mainly interesting for LGB riders. For other scales, this need only arises in extreme cases.
To actually use the double power, you must also connect the 2 consecutive outputs electrically in parallel. The best way to do this is on the 25-pin plug that you insert into the TM-H. This way, you immediately use 2 contacts in parallel for 4A and you don’t have to modify the PCB. However, for Double Power, a modification to the PCB is required: there are 3 470nF capacitors located roughly in the middle. The middle one must be replaced by a 100uF/35V(+) electrolytic capacitor. That capacitor can simply stay in place if you decide to use the module in single power mode again.
TM-Hs in Double Power can be combined in one system with TM-Hs in Single Power and TM44 modules (Single Power), provided the firmware versions are at least TM-H 5.20 and TM44 1.20.
NOTE: To avoid confusion, we have renamed 5.2 to 5.20 and now use 2 digits after the decimal point for all version numbers.
