DINASYS Turntable Control
A turntable is often the centerpiece of a locomotive depot. But… anyone who has ever connected a standard turntable knows that the operation is sometimes far from realistic: abrupt starts, sudden stops, and little control over the position of the bridge. That’s where the DTC turntable control comes in – a smart technology that transforms your turntable from a simple rotating platform into a professional and, if desired, automated part of your model railway.
What is the DTC turntable control?
DTC is a digital control system that operates the turntable with extreme precision. Instead of simply saying “go to the next track,” the system works with position recognition, load regulation, and communication with the control software on your PC. The bridge rotates at a controlled speed without annoying clicks at every exit, accelerates smoothly, brakes exactly where it needs to stop, and stays perfectly aligned with the chosen track position.
In other words: the technology of a real turntable, but on your model railway.
The DTC as the main control unit
The DTC is the heart of the turntable control system. It handles the reading of the position sensor, motor control with load regulation, the operation of any locking mechanism, the connection and control of additional accessories, and the link to the computer, including communication with automation software. From this central unit, the turntable is controlled with extreme precision.
The DTC is supplied as a complete set including power supply, cables, and mounting materials, but is also available as a standalone controller.
DTS sensor: 48 positions
For Fleischmann and Märklin turntables with 48 fixed positions and bridge-mounted drives, we use the DTS sensor. The sensor module is mounted under the turntable pit using a specially developed mounting kit. A small magnet is placed under the turntable bridge. The sensor module reads the position of that magnet via Hall sensors, so the DTC knows exactly where the bridge is located.
👉 All 48 exits are monitored by default. This means: reliable position detection and control over all track positions.
Modifications to the turntable itself are kept to an absolute minimum.
The DTS is available in 2 versions and is supplied as a set including all necessary mounting materials.
The DTS-100 Set is suitable for:
- Fleischmann 6052(C), 6152(C)
- Märklin 6652, 7286
The DTS-75 Set is suitable for:
- Fleischmann 6154(H0)
- Fleischmann 6680 (TT)
- Fleischmann 9152(C) (N)
DTx Sensor: Turntables with underfloor drive
For turntables where the rotation is transferred to the central axis from below, such as Roco, Walthers, Ferrosuisse, and other brands, we use the DTx angle sensor. This is also excellent for many scratch-built turntables.
The DTx sensor reads the angular rotation of the shaft with extreme accuracy. The beauty of controlling with the DTx sensor is that there is no fixed grid of, for example, 7.5 degrees. Exits can be located anywhere you want! Another advantage is that locking the bridge is unnecessary in most cases. The angular measurement of the DTx is so precise that the DTC rotates the bridge exactly to the position corresponding to the desired exit!
The exact location of the exits is configured and stored in the DTC using the DTCnewConfig configuration software.
DTZ sensor
The very compact DTZ sensor was developed specifically for the Märklin Z scale turntable with 24 fixed positions. You mount it directly under the turntable pit, and it works identically to the DTS sensor.
DTG: DinaSys Turntable Gateway
The DTC is normally connected directly to a PC via a USB connection. For those cases where you can’t or don’t want to do that, or if you’re looking for extra options to control the DTC, we developed the DTG. The DTG communicates with the DTC modules via the CAN bus.
The DTG offers many extra possibilities, including:
- Connecting a DTC at a greater distance from the PC than a standard USB connection reliably allows.
- Connecting and operating multiple DTC turntables on a single USB interface. The DTG controls up to 7 turntables simultaneously!
- Integrating your DTC turntables into a Dinamo system or OC32 network.
- Controlling your DTC turntables via your DCC command station.
- Controlling your DTC turntables with Koploper via (for example) the Draai15 protocol.
DTRv2: Efficient power supply for staging tracks
In a block-controlled system, such as Dinamo, G&R, or HCC!m, you have to provide each staging track of your turntable with its own track power. With 47 staging tracks, that becomes a relatively expensive solution.
With the DTRv2 module, you can do this much smarter. You use only one block output from your control system for all staging tracks combined and use the DTRv2 to select which track is allowed to use it at any given time. This is possible because on a turntable, no more than one staging track can ever be used at once.
How does it work?
The DTRv2 contains 8 relays, allowing you to select 1 of 8 staging tracks. You can link up to 6 DTRv2 modules to a DTC controller via the CAN connection, allowing you to provide up to 48 tracks with power from just a single block output.
Maximum realism and optimal control
With the combination of DTC, DTS, or DTx sensors and the optional DTG module, your turntable gains the functions of a real workshop. Think of: ✔ Always correct track alignment✔ Realistic motor control (acceleration and braking)✔ Real-time feedback to the control software✔ Suitable for both analog and digital operation✔ Integration with almost any control system or DCC command station

In short: the DTC is the ultimate solution for anyone who wants a professionally controlled turntable on their model railway.
