The TM44 is part of the <strong>Dinamo Plug and Play<\/strong> concept, but can also be used within an existing Dinamo system if desired. <\/p>\n<h3>What does the TM44 offer?<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Control of <strong>4 blocks<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Train detection in <strong>4 sections per block<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Control of analog trains with <strong>pulse width modulation in 127 steps<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Constant lighting<\/strong> for analog trains<\/li>\n<li>Control of digital trains via <strong>DCC<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Short-circuit protection<\/strong> per block<\/li>\n<li>Communication via <strong>RS485<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Single power supply<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All connections on the TM44 consist of screw-terminal connectors or <em>clip terminals<\/em>. This means you <strong>don&#8217;t need to solder<\/strong> to connect the TM44. <\/p>\n<p>Block control and train detection are electrically <strong>100% compatible<\/strong> with the <strong>TM-H \/ CD16<\/strong> combination. Both modules can be used interchangeably without any problems. <\/p>\n<p>The TM44 is only <strong>supplied fully assembled<\/strong>. Due to the large number of SMD components, it is virtually impossible for a hobbyist to build this module themselves. <\/p>\n<h3>Block control<\/h3>\n<p>The TM44 has outputs to control <strong>4 blocks individually and independently<\/strong>. Control per block can be both <strong>analog and digital<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p>Switching between analog and digital happens <strong>dynamically<\/strong> under the control of the <strong>RM-U module<\/strong>. This allows analog and digital trains to actually run together on the same track. <\/p>\n<h3>Train detection<\/h3>\n<p>Each block output of the TM44 is split into <strong>4 sections<\/strong> for train position reporting via <strong>current detection<\/strong>. This enables accurate train positioning in all situations. <\/p>\n<p>Unlike many other occupancy detectors, the TM44&#8217;s current detection is fully <strong>symmetrical<\/strong>. The same electronics are included in both rails, which significantly increases reliability and accuracy at block transitions and reverse loops. <\/p>\n<h3>Analog trains<\/h3>\n<p>Analog trains are controlled via <strong>pulse width modulation<\/strong>. This method ensures excellent running characteristics, provided the rolling stock is in good technical condition. <\/p>\n<p>Thanks to pulse width control, driving at <strong>crawl speed<\/strong> is easily possible. Both forward and reverse driving are supported. With <strong>63 speed steps per direction<\/strong>, equipment with varying characteristics can always be controlled naturally.  <\/p>\n<h3>Constant lighting (analog)<\/h3>\n<p>The TM44 can (optionally) provide <strong>constant lighting<\/strong> for analog rolling stock. The lighting is controlled with an AC voltage of approximately <strong>18 kHz<\/strong> and is adjustable in <strong>16 levels<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p>Constant lighting can be switched on and off dynamically per block. Additionally, it is possible to switch locomotive lighting <strong>directionally<\/strong>. This does require a simple auxiliary circuit in the locomotive.  <\/p>\n<h3>Digital trains<\/h3>\n<p>With digital control, the TM44 provides both the <strong>digital power<\/strong> per block and the <strong>DCC packets<\/strong> for the trains.<\/p>\n<p>DCC packets are generated separately per block and exclusively for the train located in that block. This makes the solution highly <strong>scalable<\/strong>. Up to <strong>10 DCC packets<\/strong> can be generated per block, sufficient for multi-traction, control cars, and extensive functions.  <\/p>\n<p>The management of DCC information across the various blocks and TM44 modules is handled by the <strong>RM-U<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3>Short-circuit protection<\/h3>\n<p>The TM44 features <strong>short-circuit protection per block<\/strong>. As soon as the current exceeds <strong>2A<\/strong>, the module switches off the voltage within a few microseconds. <\/p>\n<p>Once the overload is cleared, the voltage is automatically switched back on within <strong>10 milliseconds<\/strong>. Any overload is immediately reported to the controlling computer. <\/p>\n<h3>Power supply<\/h3>\n<p>The TM44 only requires a <strong>single power supply<\/strong> of <strong>8 to 24V DC<\/strong>. This voltage is also the voltage supplied to the rails. <\/p>\n<p>In practice, a supply voltage of <strong>15 to 18V<\/strong> is an excellent choice for most applications.<\/p>\n<h3>Communication<\/h3>\n<p>Communication between the <strong>RM-U<\/strong> and the TM44 modules takes place via a serial network connection based on <strong>RS485<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>This allows distances of up to <strong>1,200 meters<\/strong> to be bridged, so TM44 modules can be placed decentrally (e.g., under the layout), close to the blocks they control.
